Good news may be on the way for Red Deerians eager to hit the ice at the city’s newest rink.
The Servus Arena in downtown Red Deer could be opening much earlier than expected.
The City’s proposed 2018 Capital Budget calls for one-time operating costs of $41,920 to open the arena to the public at the beginning of January.
The Servus Arena was originally slated to be completed next summer and open in the fall. However, construction on the $21 million facility, which began last summer after the Red Deer Arena was demolished, is ahead of schedule.
