One of three people charged following an alleged armed robbery in Red Deer this year has been given a 12-month Conditional Sentence Order (CSO).

John Edward Allison, 54, of Red Deer, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Oct. 26, 2026, after pleading guilty to one count of possess property over $5000.

Among Allison’s sentencing conditions, to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, house arrest and a curfew between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., with the only exceptions being to attend an educational institution, training courses approved by a supervisor, attend a place of employment, or for other various reasons approved by the court or supervisor.

Police say they were called to the robbery at a commercial business in downtown Red Deer on Feb. 23, 2026, at approximately 11:04 p.m.

They learned shortly after getting on scene that three suspects had allegedly stolen vape products from the location and fled in a white SUV.

RCMP determined the vehicle had been stolen out of Edmonton and was later recovered in the Riverside Meadows area of Red Deer.

Following the initial investigation, the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested John Allison on Feb. 26, 2026.

He was initially charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling.

The police investigation also confirmed the identities of two more suspects, and arrest warrants were obtained for 39-year-old Janine Amos from Red Deer and 35-year-old William Johnston-Vince from Sylvan Lake.

Amos was charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling.

She was arrested on other matters and remanded into custody.

Meanwhile, William Johnston-Vince was charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, possession of property over $5,000, possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling, and failure to comply with a release order.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Amos and Johnston-Vince have their matters scheduled to return to Red Deer Court of Justice on Nov. 5, 2026.
