It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the passing of Marcia Rose Aubuchon (nee Eliuk), of Red Deer, Alberta, on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the age of 62.
Marcia was born on September 8, 1964, in Eckville, Alberta. She was the youngest of five children, growing up alongside her four older brothers, Rick (Shirley), Randy, Marvin (Diane), and Kevin. She was a beloved daughter to her mother, Iris, who survives her. Predeceased by her father Bill Eliuk, and many other cherished loved ones over the years.
Marcia’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and, later, becoming a Grammy. She was a devoted mom to her only child, Stephanie, and becoming a Grammy to her twin grandsons, Beckett and Sullivan, who brought her a happiness hard to describe. She adored her boys and treasured every moment she had with them. She also carried the love of her angel grandchild in her heart.
For more than 30 years, Marcia opened her home and her heart as a dayhome provider. Caring for children was so much more than a job, it was a part of who she was. She spent decades caring for, teaching, and shaping countless young lives, while also being grateful that her work allowed her to be there for Stephanie throughout her childhood. She became an important part of the lives of many families and children she welcomed into her home.
In 2024, Marcia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She faced an incredibly difficult journey with strength and courage. Though cancer took so much from her, it could never take away the love she gave.
Throughout her entire cancer journey, her daughter Stephanie remained by her side as her nurse, caregiver and biggest advocate. Through countless hospital stays, appointments, treatments, procedures, difficult days, and long nights, Stephanie made sure her mom was never alone. She put her own life on hold to care for the woman who had always been there for her. Their bond was extraordinary, and Stephanie continued to hold her hand, and love her through every step of the hardest chapter of their lives.
Marcia’s greatest legacy will be the love she gave. There will never be enough words to describe what Marcia meant to the people who loved her. Her absence will be felt in the quiet moments, in family traditions, in the milestones she should have been here to see, and most painfully, in the lives of her daughter and her two precious grandsons.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, the love she gave will remain with us forever. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
