1940 ~ Arnold William McKernon ~ 2026 "There will be emptiness in his chair, a quietness in the house, and a road ahead that we wish we didn’t have to travel without him. But we will carry him with us, in the things he taught us, in the traditions he cherished, and in the love he gave us. After a lifetime of looking out for everyone else, it is finally time for Arnold to lay down the keys and rest. Rest easy Dad. It’s time to retire. Until we meet again."

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arnold William McKernon on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the age of 86 years.
To those who knew Arnold, he was so much more than the many roles he carried throughout his life. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a teacher, a protector, and the steady presence his family could always count on.
Arnold was a passionate man who loved his family deeply. He believed in doing things the right way, in keeping traditions alive, and in passing those values on to the generations that followed. Much of what he taught us was never written down, it was shown through the way he lived his life, the standards he held, and the love and pride he had for his family.
For many years, Arnold’s career took him down highways and across many miles. As a professional driver, trainer, and safety advocate, he dedicated himself to doing the job well and making sure others made it home safely. He knew the roads, understood the responsibility that came with them, and shared his knowledge generously. But as far as Arnold travelled, the best destination was always home.
Home was where his heart was – with Dorothy, his loving wife of 65 years, and with the family they built together.
Arnold leaves behind his beloved wife, Dorothy, and their children: Harvey, Dean, Arnie and Cindy along with their spouses. He will be deeply missed by his eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a little piece of him forward.
His stories, his lessons, his traditions, his strength, and his love will continue to live on through all of us. His greatest accomplishment was never found on a road, in a truck, or in a career. It was found in the family he loved and the generations he helped shape.
There will be emptiness in his chair, a quietness in the house, and a road ahead that we wish we didn’t have to travel without him. But we will carry him with us, in the things he taught us, in the traditions he cherished, and in the love he gave us.
After a lifetime of looking out for everyone else, it is finally time for Arnold to lay down the keys and rest.
Rest easy Dad. It’s time to retire.
