December 17, 1953 – October 1, 2026
James “Jim” Arthur Lamha, 72, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, to Gladys and Curly Lamha, Jim grew up in Fort Assiniboine and Barrhead, where he attended school. He eventually settled in Red Deer, then Condor and Dovercourt Alberta, where he built a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family.
Jim spent an incredible 40 years in the oil and gas industry, beginning with 20 years working on service rigs for various companies, both onshore and offshore. He later transitioned into wellsite supervision, where he dedicated another 20 years to the industry. His work took him throughout central, eastern and northern Alberta, as well as to various locations across Africa, Abu Dhabi and around the world. Through it all, Jim took great pride in his work and the career he had built.
While his career took him far and wide, his heart was always close to home. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hockey, and spending time with his family. During his years living on acreages in Condor and Dovercourt, he could often be found tinkering with small engines, working on projects, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
Family was at the centre of Jim’s life. He took immense pride in his children and did his best to never miss one of Travis’s hockey games or Nicole’s figure skating competitions as they grew up. He was more than just a spectator; he was a father who showed up, supported his children, and took pride in watching them find their own paths in life.
As the years went by, Jim’s pride and love extended to his four cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Whether it was watching his children grow or spending time with the next generation, family remained one of the greatest parts of his life.
Jim leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the lessons he taught, the values he lived by, and a legacy carried forward by the family he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but the impact he made will live on in those who knew him best.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Brian (Pat), and Jerry; his sisters, Brenda, Janice, and Janet (Grant); Former Spouse Laurie; daughter, Nicole (Shane) Lamha, of Madden, Alberta; son, Travis (Ashley) Lamha, of Red Deer, Alberta; his four beloved grandchildren, Devon Lamha, Drew Lamha, Aria & Denver; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Curly Lamha, and by his brother, Robert “Bob” Lamha.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in April 2027 at Dovercourt, Alberta, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honour a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Olds Hospital Fundraising Committee in Jim’s memory. Condolences to Jim’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
