Hope & inspiration: CIBC Run for the Cure returns Oct. 4
An abundance of hope and inspiration will fill the air at Red Deer’s Bower Ponds on Oct. 4.
That is when and where the 35th annual CIBC Run for the Cure is happening, with the goals of raising both awareness of and funds for breast cancer research.
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, which is the parent organization of the Run for the Cure, breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer among women in this country, and is the second leading cause of death for Canadian women.
It’s estimated that this year alone, there will be 32,400 Canadian women diagnosed, with 5,400 more dying. Another 300 will be men.
