Douglas Lawrence Hotchkiss of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 70 years. Douglas was born in Edmonton, Alberta.
Douglas had an extensive and fulfilling career in the oil and gas industry, working with Nowsco and BJ Services. Throughout his many years in the industry, he made countless friendships and touched the hearts of many coworkers. Many of those coworkers became much more than friends – they became like family, creating lifelong relationships and treasured memories.
Douglas will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jessica Lynch, and her husband, Patrick Lynch of Red Deer; his stepdaughter, Corey Leonhardt, and her husband, Garrett Leonhardt of Drumheller; and his grandchildren, Waylon Lynch and Ashton Leonhardt.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Allan Hotchkiss and his wife, Lynne of Regina; and his sisters, Esther Dupperon of Regina, Beverley Davies and her husband, Rob of Victoria, and Shelly Doerksen and her husband, Morley, and his sister-in-law, Angie Hotchkiss, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and former coworkers who held him dear.
Douglas was predeceased by his beloved son, Eric Hotchkiss, and his brother, Birnie Hotchkiss, and his parents Dean and Kathleen Hotchkiss.
Douglas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His impact reached far beyond his immediate family, and the friendships he made throughout his life will remain a lasting part of his legacy. The memories, stories, laughter, and love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.
