Peter Don Reitze
Peter Don Reitze, lovingly known as Don, was born on September 6, 1957, and passed away on September 10, 2026.
Don was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. From a young age, he had an adventurous spirit and a determination that would stay with him throughout his life. In his younger years, he became involved in motocross and snowmobiling, passions that suited his courage, competitiveness, and love of a challenge.
In the spring of 1984, Don met Janet, beginning a love story and partnership that would shape the rest of his life. On July 18, 1986, they were married, and together with Natasha, they became a family of three.
On September 26, 1987, they welcomed Andrew into the world, growing their little family to four. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to North Bay, Ontario, where Don attended college and graduated as a graphic designer. A few years later, the family made the move to Red Deer, Alberta, where they planted new roots and began another chapter together. On November 24, 1993, they welcomed Julie, completing their family of five.
Don was a man of incredible strength and endurance. Life did not always hand him an easy road, but he had a remarkable ability to keep moving forward. He worked hard, dreamed big, adapted when life changed course, and never stopped looking toward what came next.
But Don also knew how to enjoy life. He was a silly goose at heart. He loved being around people and was happiest when he could laugh, visit, tell stories, and simply enjoy the company of those around him. With his strong faith in the Lord, he had a genuine love of life and loved sharing that joy with others. His sense of humour, playful spirit, and faith were simply part of who Don was.
That same passion for people carried into his professional life. Don began an entrepreneurial journey with Primerica and later World Financial Group (WFG), where he found his true passion in helping families with their finances and investments. For Don, it was about more than numbers. He genuinely cared about helping people understand their options, plan for their futures, and create security for the people they loved.
Above all, Don was a family man. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in the family he built and in watching it grow.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rose Reitze.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet; his children, Natasha, Andrew and Julie; his sister, Judy; his nieces, Tammy and Ammie, and their families; his beloved grandchildren, Delfina, Antonio, Mila, Ariana, Alley, Bella, Lilly and Matheyo; and his great-grandson, Mars.
The life Don lived will continue through the stories told, the memories shared, and the countless ways he shaped the people closest to him. Those who knew him will remember his determination, his laughter, his playful spirit, and perhaps most of all, the way he truly enjoyed being alive.
His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held on September 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at CrossRoads Church. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Don’s life.
