Brendan Scott Amendt passed away in the arms of his parents on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 28 years. Brendan was born on April 7, 1998, in Red Deer, Alberta. Brendan was the cherished son of Dave and Pam; the beloved brother of Colin; sister, Jessica (Landen); nieces and nephews, Brooklyn, Dawson, Bronwyn, Tanner and Fletcher; Grandma, Judy; Grandma and Grandpa, Jac and Jeannette; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Though Brendan faced extraordinary medical and developmental challenges throughout his life, he lived with a pure joy and resilience that profoundly touched everyone he met. He taught his family and community the true meaning of unconditional love, patience, and grace. Brendan had a remarkable way of interacting with everyone he met – his bright smile, sense of humour and love for a good time. He found so much happiness in music, theatre, parties, dances, games, cheering for the Oilers and Blue Jays…. Always looking for some fun. He was cared for deeply not only by his family, but by innumerable teachers, aides, nurses, doctors, and group home staff. He especially loved having friends, hanging out and chatting through social media. His friends at Pine Lake Leisure were his final group of friends that gave him a community where he could live his best life. A Celebration of Brendan’s Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at the CrossRoads Church Sanctuary, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, Alberta at 1:30 p.m. Brendan’s family would like everyone who loved him to attend, to celebrate his beautiful spirit and invite you to wear anything that reminds you of Brendan or a fun time you had with him which may include an Oilers or Blue Jays jersey, mickey mouse ears, costumes or something that meant something to Brendan.
