Iris Beverley Mae Bailey, affectionately known as “Bev,” age 87, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026.
Bev was born on September 4, 1938, in Steinbach, Manitoba. She was a telephone operator in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and married Robert “Bob” Bailey in Wartime, Saskatchewan in 1958. They lived in Estevan, Calgary, Airdrie, Delburne, then Red Deer. She worked for Grace Hospital in Calgary then the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, where in 1996 she retired for a few years before returning there to work until the age of 82 years.
Bev was devoted to her family and blessed with many lifelong friends. She maintained strong connections and loved keeping up with their lives, always having the latest inside scoop on what everyone was up to.
Known for her endless energy and generous spirit, Bev was the first to lend a helping hand or arrive with a home-cooked dish. Her sense of humour brightened up every gathering, big or small. Her fondness for flowers and butterflies are fitting symbols for someone who brought so much colour and joy into the lives of others.
The love and care she gave so freely lives on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. Bev is survived by her sons, Todd (Sandra), Troy (Jane), Taylor (Laura); grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, Kyle (Angel), Kate (Jared), Tyler, Virginia, Jadon, Cassidy; great grandson, Archer as well as numerous extended family members.
