It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Martin Leszynski, who passed away on August 15, 2026, at Foothills Hospital at the age of 67.

Jim was born in Stettler, Alberta, and was raised in Red Deer and Red Deer County. He later made his home on the family farm north of Delburne, where he found a deep appreciation for country living and the lifestyle that came with it. The farm and the country were always an important part of who Jim was.

Jim was an electrician by trade and spent many years working at Nova Chemicals. He also farmed alongside his uncle Leo near Delburne, gaining a lifelong appreciation for hard work, the land, and the simple things that came with country life.

Jim had many things he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved his music, cooking, curling, and, of course, football—especially cheering on his favourite team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. After a long day of work, there was nothing quite like sitting back and enjoying a beer.

Jim was always willing to lend his advice, whether you asked for it or not—and sometimes even when it wasn’t needed. His stories, opinions, sense of humour, and unique way of looking at things will be missed by those who knew him.

When Jim was younger, he loved his horses and the time he spent around them. Later in life, his love of projects grew. He could often be found searching for an interesting vehicle or collector’s item, bringing it home, and spending countless hours fixing it up and bringing it back to life. He also took great pleasure in finding antique treasures, each one with its own story and place in his collection.

Above all, Jim cherished his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with his granddaughter, Riley, who brought him immense joy and happiness. The memories they made together will be treasured forever.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kali (Keith) of Markerville, his granddaughter Riley, and his two siblings, along with extended family and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was predeceased by his son, Tyler James; his parents, Stan and Evelyn; his uncle, Leo; and one sibling.

Jim leaves behind a lifetime of memories—of country roads, farm life, horses, music playing in the background, curling and football, projects in the shop, antique treasures, a cold beer after a long day, and the many people he was always ready to help or offer advice to.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
