Delores Koett passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of 87 years in the presence of family. Born Marie Dolóreza Armandine Barbery on December 7, 1938, in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, to Louis Barbey and Mary Rose Barbey (Deschambeault). She grew up on the family farm, second of six children. Delores is predeceased by brothers Louis Barbey Jr., Leon Barbery, Victor Barbey and sister Jeanette Stapleton (Barbey). Survived by brother Marc Barbey. Delores graduated from the Presentation of Mary Academy in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She met and soon after married Elmer Koett in Muenster, Saskatchewan. on August 4, 1958, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Fishing Lake, Saskatchewan. It amused Delores to tell people that her name meant Our Lady of Sorrows, and that she was married in Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Delores and Elmer (who passed away recently on November 22, 2025), had and are survived by five children, James Koett, Giselle Teichroeb (Koett), Delorie Sheppard (Koett), Ken Koett, and Greg Koett, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, all who loved and mourn their passing. Delores’s life was about her family, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and even the many children she babysat. Family events, from holiday celebrations to weddings and get-togethers, were the highlights in her life. Delores enjoyed cooking and baking, her garden, and garage-sailing. Delores and Elmer shared a love of music and dancing, in their later years their nightly movies. Most of all, for 67 years they shared sincere love for each other. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5113 – 52 Avenue, Ponoka, Alberta on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Deacon Rollie Comeau officiating.
