It is with great sadness that the family of Tyronne Irvin Potter, affectionately known as “Tip”, announces his passing in Red Deer, Alberta on July 3, 2026, at the age of 85 years. Tip was born in Drumheller, September 12, 1940. He grew up in Central Alberta, living in many small towns: Rumsey, Carbon, Strathmore, Byemoor, Gwynne, Big Valley, then Drumheller; with some of his fondest memories in Drumheller. Later, his parents, Arlene and Irvin, moved the family to Red Deer, along with his three younger brothers, Les, Ken, and Frank. Tip took great pride in being a caring and supportive older brother and remained a respected role model throughout his life. Tip lived the remainder of his life in Red Deer and treasured summers in Sylvan Lake with his family and friends. Tip was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda, with whom he shared 57 happy years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael and Michele; his son-in-law, Darren; and his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Cassidy. Tip dedicated more than 42 years of his career to McGavin’s Bread, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature. Outside of work, he had a passion for woodworking. He built a sewing cabinet for Linda and a portable camping cabinet, many Christmas lawn ornaments, as well as, built his woodshop, playhouse for his grandkids and assisted in the cabin addition. Tip was an avid sports enthusiast who played hockey, football, baseball, bowling, boating and waterskiing at Sylvan Lake. He was active in Scouts with Michael for many years and they attended the Canadian and World Jamborees in Kananaskis. Tip looked forward to camping trips with family and friends in Alberta and BC. In retirement, he, Linda and Michael enjoyed exploring garage sales, tending their garden, and sharing everyday moments with their grandchildren which became fond memories. Tip leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, sense of humour and exemplary work ethic.
