Arthur (Art) Edward Stubbs, aged 87, passed away on July 27, 2026, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He was born in Edam, SK and raised in Thunder Bay, ON. After high school, he received a diploma in Electronics Technology from Ryerson College in Toronto.

After working for Bell Telephones in Ontario from 1961 to 1965, Art relocated to High Level, Alberta where he took a position with Alberta Government Telephones. He later moved to Red Deer, where he remained with AGT/Telus until his retirement in 1994.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Yolande (Jeansonne); his daughters Francine Wieliczko (Jay) and Chanelle Stayer (Will), and son Eric Stubbs (Dianne); brother Douglas (Lynn); 7 grandchildren: Nathan (Breanne), Derek (Samantha), Kirstin, Daniel (Jessica), Devon (Josef), Ryan and Adam; Art is predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (Head) and Reginald Stubbs.

Art was characterized by his humbleness, integrity, and unwavering compassion and kindness. His life was defined by a commitment to helping others and a profound adherence to his faith.

He was a loyal parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, volunteering in various Ministries throughout the past 5 decades. He also contributed over 25 years of volunteer service to Meals on Wheels, as well as years of dedicated service to the Red Deer Food Bank, the Christmas Bureau, and the Red Deer Track and Field Club.

Following his retirement, Art realized his childhood dream and completed a solo, unassisted cycling tour across Canada over three consecutive summers, from 1994 to 1996.

Art loved the mountains, hiking, canoeing, camping, cross country skiing, skating, and gardening. He was always up for a game of Cribbage, Marbles and Crokinole, or completing a challenging puzzle.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21, at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 6McMillan Ave in Red Deer.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at West Park Lodge for providing amazing care to him over the last 3 years, and the medical team on Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
