Thomas “Tom” William Williamson of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully with his wife, Vivian & brother-in-law, Ian, by his side at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on July 16, 2026, at the age of 65 years.

Tom was born in 1961 in Red Deer, AB and raised on his family acreage east of Red Deer in the Balmoral District. Tom attended school at River Glen and LTCHS. He went on to enroll in SAIT to earn his journeyman in welding and later took other welding courses to upgrade his skills at RDC. Tom worked at a variety of family run businesses including Smart Gate and continued until the summer of 2024 when his health prevented him from working. Tom married the love of his life, Vivian, in 1989 and together they raised three beautiful children, Jordan, Naomi & Emily. Tom was an avid golfer at Balmoral G.C. from a young age and more recently Riverbend G.C. participating in Men’s League at both courses. Tom instilled the love of golf in his son Jordan from a young age as well. Tom enjoyed coaching and playing badminton with the Michael Youth Badminton Club with his son Jordan, as well as coaching, refereeing and being on the Board of the Red Deer Pond Hockey Association.  He also assisted with the Red Deer Fencing Club with Jordan, in the past and played baseball and hockey. Tom & his daughter, Naomi enjoyed playing pickleball together at the Red Deer Pickleball Club outside & indoor courts. Tom & his daughter, Emily loved to go to the mini links along with challenging each other to a game of Canasta. Tom was an amazing downhill skier, enjoyed swimming and camping with his family. His favorite trip was to Disneyland with his family for his daughter’s 10th birthdays and his 49th birthday, while there. Tom was on the Board for Kasota East Camp and a Trustee for the Sunnybrook United Church. He will be remembered for his quiet, humble nature and being a deep thinker with great advice. He was a hard worker and very inventive, there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out or fix. He had a good sense of humor.

Tom is lovingly remembered by his wife, Vivian, of 37 years, one son, Jordan and two daughters, Naomi and Emily along with their loveable mini Schnoodle, Rosie. Tom is also survived by his three brothers, Ken (Terry), Paul (Tanya) and Laney of Red Deer; son-in-law, Troy, Marysa (Spencer) and Elizabeth, Tristan of Sylvan Lake, Doug (Marilyn) of Red Deer, Heather (Darin) of Buck Lake, Josh of Edmonton, Jeff (Belem), Jeremy(Cypress) and Andrei of Red Deer, Jack (Terry), Christa (Chad), Evelyn and Riley all of St. Albert, Lisa (Jeremy) of Edmonton, and one sister, Jean (Doug) of Strathmore, Eric (Lulu), Theo and Rosa of Calgary, Robert and Aspen of Airdrie, two uncles Robert (Louisa) of Calgary, Don (Maxine) of Granum and one Aunt Marjorie of Lacombe, his mother-in-law, Joyce of Red Deer, two brothers-in-law, Ian (fiancée Boonrod, Kong & Klao of Thailand), Aaron & Dillon (Taylor) all of Texas, Kevin of Red Deer and one sister-in-law, Linda (Tim) of Pine Lake. Tom is further survived by numerous cousins and friends.

Tom was predeceased by his father, George, his mother, Alice and father-in-law, Bruce, all of Red Deer, and his niece, Jody, of Sylvan Lake, AB.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sunnybrook United Church, 12 – Stanton St., Red Deer, AB on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend are requested to wear BLUE, if possible, as it was Tom’s favorite color!

A light lunch will follow the service in the lower hall with a private family interment held shortly after the service and a reception with the family upon their return from the cemetery.  For those that are not able to attend in person, the service will be live streamed on Sunnybrookunited.org.

The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, Emergency staff and EMS for their wonderful care of Tom and those on Unit 32, along with the Palliative Team at RDRHC, Dr. M. Sawyer, Rae-Lee, Andrew, Lindsay (Dietician) and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute, and the TPN Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their expertise with Tom over the past few years. We felt truly cared about & for in this difficult journey.
