Reading College celebrates record 79 graduates
Nearly 80 Grade 2 students walked across the stage and graduated from Reading College on Friday morning at Red Deer Polytechnic.
With family and friends in attendance, 79 students accepted their diplomas after completing the month-long literacy program.
Sue Carmichael, Reading College program coordinator, said every year this day means so much to the kids and teachers because of their hard work.
“They come eagerly, and they try so hard. The reason they keep coming is they see they’re getting better because they get so much feedback every day,” she said. “We have so many kids who started on list two and finished right to 22, and they’re very motivated because they see it’s a non-threatening environment. There’s way less kids; they get food, freezies, and lots of fun in the afternoons. What could you not like about that?”
