A well-educated woman; she started her schooling years at Cumberland, graduating from Delburne School, completing her formal education in 1960 at Henderson Secretarial School in Red Deer. She never stopped learning, and was to the favorite “go-to” for anyone looking for advice. If she couldn’t help you in the moment, she would call you within a few days with a solution or advice. An eternal collector of recipes. She was our Rock.
A fond memory Ada talked about often; travelling with her father Oscar in the 2-ton Ford dually; pouring boiling water through the carb to get it going, so she could travel up the big hill from the river to get to school, then stopping at grandma Lund’s to eat canned chicken on the way home.
Ada met her true love Gary in the summer of 1960; when her cousin Bill Edmundson brought his friend Gary, and went to the movies in Sylvan Lake. Ada and Gary hit it off and were married in June of 1961. 65 years.
She and Gary moved back to the family farm in 1961; Ada worked as a secretary in Delburne School, Delburne West REA, Cumberland Hall; farmed right alongside Gary; becoming the best operating teacher the farm has known, raised their girls, and became strongly involved in her community, which she carried on with until her passing.
