It is with deep love and sadness that the family announces the passing of Darlene Evelyne Shygera (Sheehan), who passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Innisfail, Alberta, at the age of 82 years.

Born on November 19, 1943, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Darlene lived a life defined by love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Darlene was the beloved wife of Don Shygera, with whom she shared an extraordinary sixty-two years of marriage. Together, they built a lifetime of cherished memories and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Donna (Ron) Seifried and Deanna (Richard) Haddow, as well as Doug Hill. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Brittany (Josh) Sinnamon and their children, Emmett, Georgia, and Noah; Alyssa (Cole) Kalev and their children, Kayce and Colter; Donnie Hill and his children, Harlow and Sylas; and Sadie Hill (Chris). Being a wife, mother, nana, and great-nana brought Darlene her greatest joy.She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Evelyne Sheehan, and by her brother, Thomas Sheehan, and his wife, Mari.

For more than twenty years, Darlene worked as a bookkeeper with Miller, Lehane & Wild. She took great pride in her career before retiring to devote herself fully to her family and home. Her determination, strong work ethic, and caring nature were evident in everything she did. Darlene found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening and filled every season with beautiful flowers. She was a talented seamstress who lovingly created countless projects for her grandchildren. An exceptional baker and cook, she delighted in preparing favorite treats to share with family and friends. One of her favorite outings was shopping downtown, where she often found a friend to visit with. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets, whom she spoiled with the same love and care she gave so generously to everyone around her. Known for her bubbly personality, quick wit, and warm smile, Darlene had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued. She saw the good in everyone and was always ready with a kind word, helping hand, or thoughtful gesture. Elegant yet humble, determined yet gentle, she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. She truly was the most wonderful lady.

The family finds comfort in the many treasured memories she leaves behind and in the lasting impact she had on all who knew and loved her. “Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not”.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Innisfail United Church, 4720 – 48 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta.
