1934 ~ Ninon Hildegard Goodall (Shaw) ~ 2026 "One of her treasures was the many lifelong friendships she nurtured over the years. She had a gift for making people laugh, a warmth that drew others to her, and a kindness that left a lasting impression."

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ninon Hildegard Goodall (Shaw) on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was the only child of Walter and Traute Shaw, born in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 3, 1934. Sadly, she lost her father in World War 2 at the age of 9. Ninon’s mother struggled to make ends meet by taking in college students and did her best to raise a spirited and strong-willed child. At a young age, Ninon gave birth to a child who was later placed for adoption. A difficult experience that shaped her life and demonstrated her resilience. (She would reunite with her firstborn child in the mid 1980’s). In her late teens, Ninon married Norman Latham and moved to Fort Nelson, British Columbia. She and Norman had four children together. (Colleen, Shawn, Pat and Mike) After the conclusion of that relationship, she met Stan in 1961 at a Valentine’s dance and their romance blossomed. In the early years, they managed to keep their heads above water by running a motel and dairy bar with everyone pitching in. Ninon and Stan welcomed their son Glen in 1970. Ninon went on to operate a daycare in her home for several years. In 1979 they decided to make the long trek to Thompson, Manitoba. Ninon then took a job in the kitchen of a local hotel. The work was demanding and exhausting, but she loved it! The friends and memories she made in Thompson were some of her fondest. In 1997, Stan and Ninon retired, packed up, and moved to Red Deer, Alberta. They embraced their family, the community, and became quite involved at the Good Shepherd Church. In 2012, they moved to Sylvan Lake and loved spending time around the waterfront. Ninon basking in the sun and Stan with a book in the shade. Some of Ninon’s biggest joys in her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent countless hours dedicating her time and attention to their activities and interests. Ninon has always loved animals of every kind. She has welcomed many household pets over the years and has never met a wet nose she wouldn’t kiss. She took pride in her baking and was a wonderful cook. Knitting and quilting were frequent past times that she also enjoyed. Ninon’s greatest joy was giving to others, whether through a thoughtful gift, a helping hand, or simply her time and kindness. She had a gift for making people laugh, a warmth that drew others to her, and a kindness that left a lasting impression. She is predeceased by her mother and father, as well as her son-in-law Herb. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Stan Goodall; brother-in-law Donnie; her children, Blair (Allison), Colleen, Shawn, Pat, Mike (Lisa), and Glen (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Toni, Terry, Lawrence (Soleil), Melaina (Dimitrius), Derek (Shari), Stacy (Ed), Michelle, Chantelle, Rebecca, Kassidy and Jacksyn; great grandchildren: Quinton, Carly, Ben, Lucas, Deone, Megan, Tallis, Calvin, Cassandra, and Lillian. Nephew; Ron, Niece; Cheryl. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ninon’s memory directly to Next Chapter Animal Rescue.
