In loving memory we share the news of Eileen Calvert’s passing at the Red Deer Hospice on June 26, 2026 at 97 years of age.
Eileen was born on December 18, 1928 in Empress, Alberta. She was married to Roy Calvert for more than 62 years. Eileen grew up in Innisfail, Alberta and was a hardworking farm wife in the Calder area east of Innisfail until the family moved to town in 1969. On the farm she loved to ride horses and was active with her neighbors.
When Eileen and Roy moved to Innisfail she worked at many jobs, but she especially loved her ten years plus at Value Drug Mart. She also worked to support Roy and son David in their company, Calvert Contracting Ltd.
As a young woman of eighteen years, Eileen traveled to England with her mother Edith. They sailed on the Queen Elizabeth from New York City in 1947 and she spent a year there working as a nanny in Hull, Yorkshire. Her time abroad created a sense of curiosity and knowledge of a bigger world. She was proud of her British heritage and at the same time loved her life in Innisfail. After her husband Roy passed in 2011, Eileen managed their home for two years before moving to Snowberry Downs condo in the fall of 2013. Eileen was still living in Snowberry Downs when she passed. She appreciated all of her friends and neighbors there and especially their support and generosity. Eileen was a loving mother and grandmother. Along with Roy, she helped raise her grandsons in their early years, Ben, Michael and Thomas, and they enjoyed the times spent at her house growing up. Eileen loved animals, and got great joy from her grand
pups and grand kitty Esther up until the end.
Eileen is survived by son David Calvert (Denise), her daughter Melodie Calvert (Katie), grandson Ben Calvert (Tanya), grandson Mike Calvert (Brittany and Kira) and grandson Thomas Calvert as well nephew Brian Dyer and wife Sharon, nephew Alan Dyer and wife Lori and her niece Carol Dyer. Her eldest son Barry passed away in an accident in 1986. She is predeceased by her husband Roy in 2011, her dachshund Chloe in 2011, her brother Les Dyer in 1999, John Dyer in 2003, her brother Bob Dyer in 2013 and her
sister-in-law Marge Dyer in 2025. She is also survived by her best friend from school Betty Sawin.
Her family would like to thank all of Eileen’s helpers as well as Innisfail Homecare for their continued support over the years. They would also like to acknowledge the love and care Eileen received at Red Deer Hospice. They created a unique and supportive environment and allowed Eileen a peaceful journey.
