Jul 8, 2026 | 10:43 AM

A severe thunderstorm watch (yellow) has been issued for the Red Deer area by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

As of 10:45 a.m., the advisory is in place for Red Deer, stretching to areas north of Edmonton, and south to just north of Lethbridge, and includes Medicine Hat.

Halkirk and east, the advisory is rated orange, instead of the less severe yellow. Red is the most severe.
