Canadian midfielder Ismaël Koné says he is moved by the outpouring of support he has received since sustaining a broken leg in Canada’s 6-0 group stage win over Qatar. In a letter published in the Players’ Tribune website to thank Canada’s fans, Koné said he felt he “was letting the whole country down” after a late tackle from Qatari defender Assim Madibo left him with a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg. But he said the warmth he felt from the crowd at BC Place as he was being carried off has continued over the past two weeks.
