Mr. Hugh Ross of Blemheim, Ontario passed away at Windsor, Ontario on June 1, 2026 at the age of 54 years. Hugh was born at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on February 4. He was raised and farmed there with his family until he moved to Alberta in 1997. Hugh graduated High School from Carlton Comprehensive in Prince Albert and went on to Billing Auction School to become an auctioneer. At the time of his death, Hugh was managing Clarke Family Farms Inc. at Blemheim, Ontario. He was passionate about purebred cattle, the cattle industry and anything related to agriculture. Hugh spent his life mentoring young cattlemen and never met anyone who he wouldn’t stop and visit with.
Hugh was a member of the American and Canadian Angus Association, Hereford Association and Canadian Charolais Association through out the years. Hugh was very proud to have won shows and awards all over North America, the highlight being Supreme Female at Agribition, Denver Charolais Champion and most recently, Royal Winter Fair Champion Bull and many others along the way. Hugh will be most missed for his one liners, great visits and his infectious laugh. Nothing made Hugh prouder than the accomplishments of his children, Nicki, Carter and his niece Kyla, and all the kids that showed with him through out the years.
Hugh will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Janette Ross, his daughter, Nicki Ross of Innisfail, Alberta, his son, Carter of Innisfail, Alberta, his sister Beverley (Jason) Kelly of Innisfail, his niece Kyla Kelly, his aunts, Alana Ross and Donna (Louis) Piché. Hugh is predeceased by his father, Donald Ross, grandparents; Hugh and Janet Ross, Morna & Hector MacDonald, step grandfather, Jack Ledoux, his uncle, Dave Ross, John Folmer, and his aunts, Jeannie Ross and Ellen Folmer.
A public visitation was held at Heartland Funeral Services chapel, Innisfail, Alberta on June 15, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment took place at the Innisfail Cemetery on June 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. and a Celebration of his life will be held at the Cottonwood Gordon Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. The service was livestreamed.
