Before the rain

During our lives, we have exceptional moments just before something amazingly wonderful happens to us.

As fathers, we anxiously await the birth of our children, and with a final push, we get to meet our children for the first time. With the first cry, we know they have arrived.

It is in that millisecond that our hopes and prayers are answered but we still have to go through and wait. No amount of worry, fret or pacing will bring that time to fruition.

For the mothers in that time, their communion with their child (or children) is far more intimate. They too, wait for the birth of the little life within them and the same moment of birth creates something special.

If we consider our lives as believers, with an appointed number of days that only God knows, the time we spend in prayer is not just an act of dedication and faith but also a deposit in heaven.

It says in Rev 8:4 that our prayers rise to heaven and are heard by God:

“And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” (revelation 8 vs 4),

That is the mystery of prayer

We pray for our children and sometimes we wait weeks, months, years even for an answer.

Yet in Gods’ dominion, He knows when an answer will come.

We wait. We pray more. We wait. We pray.

The mystery of prayer is that God knows our hearts, he know us so intimately that sometimes we don’t even have to pray. He knows.

Just like the rising of the sun at God’s ordained time, his answer comes at his appointed time as the first rays of the sun peek over the horizon splaying light over the world. There is no doubt, just an answer.

Praise be to God.
