It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma (Gringa), Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Roxanne Toppe.

She passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by those she loved most at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Roxanne was born on September 21, 1944, at the Killam Hospital to Melvin and Kathryn Larson and was raised on the family farm near Lougheed, Alberta. Growing up on the prairie, she learned the values of hard work, resilience, community, and the importance of family. She often shared stories of her childhood on the farm, preserving memories of a simpler time and the close-knit community that helped shape her life.

At just 14 years old, Roxanne began working as a switchboard operator in Lougheed, starting a career in telecommunications that would span decades. She went on to work for AGT which later became Telus, where she remained until her retirement on September 28th, 1999. Two years after the passing of her beloved husband, Eric, Roxanne came out of retirement and began her new career at the Red Deer Regional Hospital where she would work until officially retiring in April 2020.

Roxanne married the love of her life, Eric Toppe, on August 22, 1964. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and devotion. Her greatest joy was her family, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many memories they created together.

Roxanne was the kind of mother and (great) grandmother who never missed an opportunity to support the people she loved. Whether it was a hockey game, ringette game, soccer game, baseball game, family dinner, or family vacation, she was always there. Her unwavering presence, encouragement, and love meant the world to her family. She showed up for every milestone, big or small, and created countless memories that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry with them forever.

In her later years, Roxanne especially enjoyed travelling with friends and family and embracing new adventures. The lake house quickly became the heart of countless family gatherings. She loved spending time there with her family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. The lake house was one of her happiest places, and her family will continue to cherish her legacy there, sharing stories, laughter, and coffee in her favorite chair.

Roxanne was an active member of her community throughout her life. She volunteered with numerous organizations, participated in many clubs, and generously gave her time wherever it was needed. Her kindness, dedication, and welcoming spirit touched many lives.

Roxanne is lovingly remembered by her sons, Stephen (Jackie) Toppe and Ed Toppe; her grandchildren, Sarah (Colton), Maddison, Ty, Chantel (Alex), and Tory; her great-grandchildren, Greyson, Bennet, and Hudson; her sisters, Dolores Simpson, Norma Probst, Pat (Bud) Horinek, and Elsie (Jack) Ramsden; her sisters-in-law, Carol Larson and Margaret Toppe; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eric Toppe; her parents, Melvin and Kathryn Larson; her parents-in-law, Hans and Daisy Toppe; her brother, John Larson; her infant brother, Kenneth Larson; her brother-in-law, Gus Probst; and her nephew, Kevin Probst.

Roxanne will be remembered for her strength, kindness, sense of humour, love of travel, dedication to her community, and above all, her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the memories she created, and the family she cherished so deeply.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820 45 St, Red Deer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roxanne may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
