The 34th annual Harvest Run returns to Red Deer Sunday, Sept. 13.

Event organizers anticipate nearly 500 runners, and one thing really neat about the Harvest Run is that every finisher gets a medal following their 3 km or 8 km jaunt.

Additionally, several young athletes will receive athletic bursaries.

The Harvest Run includes under-10 free admission, live music, and food trucks.

Red Deer Runners provides an environment where people get together to pursue their interests in fitness, specifically in running. The Harvest Run began in 1991 as a small community run hosted by the Red Deer Runners,” shares Otto Stepanik, event organizer.

“It has grown to include over 450 runners, as well as a devoted group of volunteers who make the event happen. Most importantly, the Harvest Run is a good time. Families and friends can spend a morning cheering each other on as they celebrate their fitness journey. A lot of people who are new to running use the Harvest Run as their first race.”

Stepanik says the goal has always been, and continues to be, to make the Harvest Run a family-oriented event.
