Elizabeth Lorna Marshall of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on December 09, 2025, at the age of 82 years.
Elizabeth was born and raised on a farm near Smuts, Saskatchewan, to John and Annie Hrapchak. This family would grow to 16, with 7 sons and 7 daughters! Elizabeth loved having so many siblings and sharing many endearing stories about her younger years growing up at home. After they sold their farm, they moved to Gronlid, Sask. where she attended grade school at Maryville School. At the age of 10, they moved to Nipawin, Sask. into town. After finishing high school, Elizabeth started her career in banking and then married Bob (Robert) Marshall, a twin from the Silver Stream District (SK). Liz’s youngest sister, Helen, ended up marrying Bob’s twin Bill, so it was a fun experience to raise their families together taking turns travelling between Alberta and Saskatchewan to spend all the holidays together. They started their family with daughter Jackie (Jacqueline) arriving first in 1966, then their son Trevor arrived in 1969. Sadly, Trevor passed away October 17, 1969 at three months young. A second daughter, Glenda, arrived in 1972 followed by a third daughter, Jaylene, on October 17, 1976. Over the years, Liz and Bob moved from Bob’s parent’s farm in Silver Stream to working a winter in California, then to Fort McMurray, Drayton Valley and then Alix, Alberta. She left banking in her mid 40’s to pursue a career in life insurance. She and Bob divorced in 1990, and Liz moved to Red Deer where she would reside the rest of her years. Her passion was her career, spending time with her grandchildren, family events, her ladies group and of course gardening, canning and cooking the rest of her years as if she was still feeding a family of five! She always made a point to stay in contact with family by phoning or in person. During Summers she loved camping and road trips to visit family. She loved to host friends and family, cook and was known for telling jokes. Her joy for decorating her home, inside and out, dressing up with flare and hosting the holidays will be remembered fondly. Liz became ill in 2025 and lost her battle to cancer on December 9th while in hospital comforted by the love of family as she joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her loved ones in Heaven. The memory of her beautiful smile, crazy sense of humor and laughter will always be remembered.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters Jackie (Bob) Boyd, Glenda Buelow (Isaac Padron), and Jaylene (Guy) Ricker; grandchildren Dustin Boyd (Oksana), Cole (Charley) Boyd, Shawn (Leah) Boyd, Brock Boyd, Graydon (Kali) Peters, Tanner Buelow, Amdelyn Buelow, Tiffany (Dustin) Scott, Caitlin peters, Nevin Ricker, Abbey Ricker, and Lucas Ricker; great-grandchildren Mia Boyd, Jade Boyd, Lana Boyd, Elis Boyd, Blake Boyd, Andy Boyd, Micah Boyd, Beau Peters, Charlotte Peters, Londyn Scott, Haisley Scott, Navy Scott, True Peters, and Tuff Peters; brother John (Sandy) Hrapchak; and by her sisters Olga (Bill) Hammond, Sonia (Ross) Ganton, and Helen Marshall. She was predeceased by her son Trevor Marshall; brothers Steve, Tony, Victor, Harry, Eugene, and Miron; sisters Mary, Joyce, and Frances; and by her parents John and Annie Hrapchak (Kowal).
A funeral service for Liz will be held at Dormition Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 105 street West, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Friday June 26th, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A lunch will follow from Noon to 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Mabel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Nipawin, SK, at 5:15 PM. Following the interment there will be a fellowship for family and friends at John and Sandy Hrapchak’s home in Nipawin.
