Mr. John Samuel Dolhagaray of Carstairs, Alberta passed away at the Didsbury Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 80 years. John was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1945 and moved to St. Albert, Alberta at the age of one year. John was a proud member of the IBEW Union and the Royal Canadian Legion. He had a passion for classic cars, oldies music, collecting model cars, and M&M memorabilia. Later in life, he cherished his trips to Scotland, where he was able to reconnect with his roots. John is lovingly remembered by his spouse, Merle MacLeod; his children, Lisa (Matt) Rozmahel, Jim (Michelle) Dolhagaray, Kelli Dolhagaray, Jo-Elle Dauncey, and Donna (Chris) Bowditch.; as well as his numerous grandchildren, who lit up his world and whom he spoke of with great pride. He is also survived by numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Catherine Dolhagaray; his sisters, Suzanne Dahl and Pat Petrukovich; his brother, Martin Dolhagaray; and Merle’s son, Shane Ford.

Two celebrations will be held to honor John’s life.

The first celebration will be held in Carstairs, Alberta on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53, 121 – 10th Avenue North, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The second celebration will be held in St. Albert, Alberta on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the St. Albert Inn, #156 St. Albert Trail, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
