We are heartbroken to share that Kaitlyn has passed away at the age of 31 due to extremely rare complications following a heart procedure.

Born to Heather and Ben, Kaitlyn grew up in Olds with her sisters Breana and Meghan. She later moved to Red Deer where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and built a life and career she was deeply proud of, working as an RN in the emergency department at the Red Deer Hospital. Alongside nursing, she was also a talented baker who operated a thriving cake business.

Growing up, she was an active girl, playing hockey, fastball, and volleyball. She loved spending time outdoors with her family and friends, whether biking, hiking, swimming, skating, or camping.

She was goofy, vibrant, quick to laugh, and had a way of making every room brighter just by being in it. Kaitlyn was known for her fiery spirit, her kindness, and her sense of humour. She could make anyone laugh, whether through a joke, a story, or simply by being herself.

She was deeply loved as a daughter, sister, cousin, niece, granddaughter, coworker, teammate, and friend.

She will be missed endlessly. Her family encourages everyone who knew and loved Kaitlyn to remember her often, share stories, and laugh about the memories.

Our family is deeply grateful to the medical team at the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Edmonton for their exceptional care and compassion.

We hosted a celebration at the Olds College Alumni Centre, Olds, Alberta on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We encouraged people to wear bright colors or animal print, and welcomed people sharing stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice, or write a letter to your MLA in support of public healthcare 🙂
