Red Deer RCMP charge three after alleged armed robbery

May 25, 2026 | 1:39 PM

Red Deer RCMP have charged three people following an alleged armed robbery earlier this year.

Police say they were called to the robbery at a commercial business in downtown Red Deer on Feb. 23 at approximately 11:04 p.m.

They learned shortly after getting on scene that three suspects had allegedly stolen vape products from the location and fled in a white SUV.

The RCMP determined the vehicle had been stolen out of Edmonton and was later recovered in the Riverside Meadows area of Red Deer.

Following the initial investigation, the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested 53-year-old John Allison on February 26.

The Red Deer resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling.

Allison was released on an appearance notice to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 15.

The police investigation also confirmed the identities of two more suspects, and arrest warrants were obtained for 39-year-old Janine Amos from Red Deer and 35-year-old William Johnston-Vince from Sylvan Lake.

Amos has been charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling.

She was arrested on other matters and has since been remanded into custody. Amos is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 29, 2026.

Meanwhile, William Johnston-Vince has been charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, possession of property over $5,000, possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling, and failure to comply with a release order.

A warrant for arrest has been issued for William Johnston-Vince.

Anyone with information on Johnston-Vince’s whereabouts is asked to please contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2200.
