Robert ‘Bob’ Malcolm Johnson of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the age of 79 years. Bob was born on February 13, 1947 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He was raised on his family’s dairy farm. He attended Coburg Rural School (a one room schoolhouse), Lindale School, and then Central Collegiate High School. Bob lived in various places throughout the western provinces including Calgary, Alberta, Vernon, British Columbia, Black Creek, British Columbia, Campbell River, British Columbia, Didsbury, Alberta, and Red Deer, Alberta. Bob spent almost his entire career in Seismic exploration for oil and gas. His work took him mostly to the Canadian Arctic but also to the United States and Australia. He was a very kind and generous man. He loved to laugh and joke and had an infectious smile. He had a passion for bargain hunting and he absolutely loved finding a great deal. He also loved spending his summers with his late brother, Dale in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia, where they loved to go on long nature walks and frequent flea markets. He will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Gail Bagshaw; his daughters, Virginia Bagshaw of Queensland Australia, Crystal Johnson of Bornemouth, England, Cheri Johnson of Canmore, Alberta; his step-daughters, Heidi-Jo (Carmine) Angi of London, Ontario, Traci Curtain of Brisbane, Australia, Bernedette Bagshaw of Airdrie, Alberta and his two granddaughters, Ali Marcoux and Maci Johnson. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Betty Ann Chalmers of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Barb (Jack) Ross of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Scottie and Bette Johnson, and his brothers, Ken Johnson and Dale Johnson. Service of Remembrance will be held in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan at a later date.
