UPDATE: Emergency crews respond after The Dome Red Deer comes down

The Dome Red Deer has come down after it sustained damage as a result of strong winds on Thursday.

In a Facebook post, The Dome explained there were no injuries, and everyone was safely evacuated.

“Thank you to our staff and trainers for helping oversee this process,” they wrote in the post. “We are awaiting assessments to determine when repairs can take place and will keep our community updated as we have news. Private training and function first clients will be notified about ongoing services that have not been affected.”

Red Deer County Corporate Communications Manager Simoi Cruickshank said seven county firefighters were on scene, arriving at 12:53 p.m.
