LODEWYK, Bob
1942 ~ 2026
Bauke Lodewyk was born April 17, 1942, in Oosterbierum, The Netherlands, to Eise and Minke Lodewyk. Bob’s life journey ended peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Red Deer, Alberta, when the Lord took him after a brief battle with cancer. A loving husband, father, Pake, brother, uncle, and genuine friend, he touched so many lives. Bob and his family immigrated to Red Deer in 1953. He completed Grade Eight at Central School, then worked with the Canadian National Railway as a telegram delivery boy, delivering on a bicycle. He worked in construction for a few years until he started his business, Bo-Lo Drywall, which he enjoyed for 50 years. Whether through church activities, volunteering for Friendship Ministries, at SERVE Furniture, or simply having coffee with his friends, Bob always loved socializing. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharyn (née Buit), of 52 years; his children: Julie (Hendrik) de Gier, Elisa (Paul) Aasman, and Evan; as well as nine delightful grandchildren: Paige (Josh), Tyrel, Sydnie, Katie, Conor, Olivia, Caleb, Harry, and Jada. Bob was the oldest of eight children and leaves behind his siblings: Henry (Brenda), Jean (Don), Claudia (Roger), Liz (David), Bill (Rolanda), and Sid (Trish); his sister-in-law, Jeralyn; along with numerous family members and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Eise and Minke, and his brother, Clarence. A Celebration of Bob’s Life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the First Christian Reformed Church, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer, with a coffee fellowship reception that followed. You know Bob loved coffee time.
