1963-2026
Lester Harold Spicer of Red Deer passed away at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the age of 62 years. He was born in Calgary Alberta on June 30, 1963 to George and Nellie Spicer (nee Somerville). Lester was primarily raised in Cochrane, Alberta. In his youth, Lester enjoyed competitive swimming, hockey, Scouts, and many adventures building forts and swimming in creeks. In 1981, he joined the Royal Canadian Forces and was Honourably discharged in 1983 after a training accident. Lester then found his passion for cooking, he enrolled at SAIT in 1985 and began his cooking courses. After graduating, he got to experience the joys of cooking all around Alberta and the Yukon. Longtime friendships formed while in Cluny and Vulcan particularly. Lester had a great feel for music; he attended concerts and spoke often of his experiences. Listening to music was a great joy of Lester’s. After his mother’s passing in 2014, Lester and his father did some travelling together throughout Canada (Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and the Yukon). Lester ventured off to Cuba with friends and following this trip had an extended trip to Thailand with an uncle. Lester will be lovingly remembered by his father, George Spicer of Fairview, Alberta, his brother Tom (Dawn) Spicer of Fairview, Alberta, his sister Gina (Lance) Meroniuk of Slave Lake, Alberta, two nieces, two nephews and numerous family members and dear friends. Lester was predeceased by his mother, Nellie Spicer. As per Lester’s request, no formal service will be held. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
