Helen Lorane Maracle
November 15th, 1940 – May 2nd, 2026
It is with great sadness that in the early morning hours of May 2nd, we announce the passing of our mom. She battled with a lengthy long-term illness.
She was born in Picton, Ontario. After her children were older, she went back to school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in Kitchener/Waterloo area until she retired. She then came west to live near her family in Red Deer, Alberta.
Both of her daughters were with her at the time of her passing at the Red Deer Hospice. Mom was predeceased by her parents, and many brothers and sisters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Terry (Lenn), Rocky Mountain House, Tammy (Trevor), Mountain View County, and her son Allan from Saskatoon. She had 6 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She also had a great fondness for her extended family and friends. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario as well.
Mom loved to travel, which in her pre-retirement age, she had a special friend of 20 years named Mike who sadly passed back in 2007.
She took her last trip to Ontario at the end of August and most recently celebrated a family vacation to the mountains for her 85th birthday. Her favorite past time was people watching, as she would sit at the table and watch everything going on outside. She enjoyed her family time with her friends and roommate (Mirna, who sadly passed away 5 weeks earlier).
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church from our young years, until she couldn’t, or wasn’t able to attend anymore.
Her Funeral will be at the Alto Reste Cemetery on May 12th, 2026, at 11:00 am, officiated by Major Rowe.
Her family is sincerely grateful for the wonderful, compassionate care and attention she received during her stay at the Red Deer Hospice.
If you would like to make a donation, we would greatly appreciate if you would donate to the Red Deer Hospice Society (https://reddeerhospice.com/donate/).
