Dawn Janice Finkbiner was born in Stettler, Alberta on January 24, 1951 to John and Frances Cowan. She was the first of 7 children. She did most of her schooling in Didsbury. Dawn graduated in 1969. At the age of 19, she met Ron Finkbiner. That would have been in 1970. They married before the year was out, but just. Their wedding was on New Year’s Eve in Port Alberni, BC. They then relocated to Calgary, where they welcomed their first child, Jason. A few years later, while living in Pincher Creek, Ron and Dawn were blessed with their second child, Aaron. They embraced the arrival of their third child (a daughter) Naomi, while living in Didsbury.

Ron and Dawn moved between Alberta and B.C. over the years. Between her moves, she was able to finish her nursing training and graduated as an LPN. She loved her work. The maternity ward was her fav unit, by far. MS became a part of Dawn’s life early in her adult years. After Ron’s passing, Dawn moved from BC to live with her daughter, Naomi, in Drumheller. She then went on a magical mysterious tour of different lodges across Alberta.

She spent her last year in Didsbury. Dawn absolutely loved it. She felt at home there. Dawn made her final change of address on April 12, 2026. If you would like to get in contact with her, you will have to know the Lord, cause that’s who she’s hanging with.

Dawn is survived by her three children, Jason (Rachel); Aaron (Caralee); Naomi (Travis); ten grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dawn’s Celebration of Life was held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, 802 Hwy 582, Didsbury, Alberta on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
