STUPPARD, Antoinette
1921 – 2026
Our beloved mother, Antoinette Marie Stuppard, peacefully left this world on the evening of Friday, April 17, 2026 to join her heavenly family.
Antoinette was born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, the fifth child of Rosaire and Marthe Corbeil. As a young girl her love of music flourished with violin and harp lessons. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Fine Arts and began to teach at the Canadian School of Music in Winnipeg. In 1956 she married Howard Stuppard and they moved to Red Deer, Alberta, here Antoinette quickly became involved in the music scene playing for the Red Deer Musical Theatre productions. She was a pioneer in the musical community of Red Deer. As her family grew, she began to teach her children and a few neighbour children and in 1962 she formed a little group which was the beginning of the Red Deer Youth and Community Orchestra, which has been in existence for sixty-four years and continues today. What a legacy! Antoinette was passionate about musical education and countless numbers of children and adults have been blessed with her gift of music. She volunteered her time generously and was dedicated to bring string playing to Red Deer and Central Alberta. During her career Antoinette received many awards including the Beta Sigma Phi for Distinguished Service, The Mayors Recognition Award and the Alberta Centennial Award.
Antoinette’s love of music was surpassed only by the love and joy she experienced through her family life. She loved being with family and friends usually having a beautiful meal around the table, laughing and telling stories. Antoinette and Howard enjoyed many fishing trips, camping and being out on the boat accompanied by their little dogs. She was also passionate about her garden, flowers and her beloved apple trees. Antoinette was joyful in life’s triumphs and strong in its adversity, she relied on her faith in God and her church.
Antoinette will be lovingly remembered by her children, Louise (Tom), Tom (Deanna), and Celine, and her cherished grandchildren, Lindsy, Katrina, Conlan and Marina. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, and her daughter, Marcelle.
We will miss your kind, generous and loving nature. You will remain in our hearts forever. We give our gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Villa Marie who always made mom feel special and treated her with dignity. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 – 48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
