It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Duncan Philip Ball of Bashaw, Alberta, on April 10, 2026, at the age of 47.
Duncan was born in Red Deer, Alberta, on April 2, 1979, the only child and beloved son of Jack and Brenda Ball. An active and curious boy, he was always on the go and eager to try new things, a spirit that stayed with him throughout his life.
Duncan spent his school years at Bashaw School where he found success in sports and formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation Duncan went on to become a Journeyman B-Pressure Welder and then later built a long career working as an Oil and Gas Operator, most recently with Ember Resources. At Ember he spent many good years and formed deep friendships with many coworkers. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
Duncan met the love of his life, Tammy, in 2003, and they were married in 2005. Together they built a life in Bashaw, creating a home filled with love. Their greatest joy came with the arrival of their sons, Delsin in 2009 and Westin in 2014. Duncan was immensely proud of his boys and treasured every moment spent with them.
Duncan will be lovingly remembered by his parents Jack and Brenda, his wife, Tammy, and their two sons, Delsin and Westin. He is also survived by Tammy’s stepfather Dan Specht, Tammy’s siblings, Aunts and Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends who’ve chosen family.
Duncan was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald and Jackie Ball, Philip and Minnie Schneider, his young cousin Dana Schneider and his mother-in-law, Donna Specht.
Duncan will be remembered for his pride in his family, his work ethic, his passion for helping others and the deep love he had for those closest to him.
He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Bashaw Community Center on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
