Alberta communities get financial top-up for firefighting training
Several central Alberta-based fire departments are among the 90 across the province to receive a top-up of funding for firefighter training.
The Fire Services Training Program (FSTP) grant, administered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, has $500,000 being distributed in 2026.
“This investment is a meaningful step in strengthening fire services across Alberta, ensuring firefighters have access to the training they need to safely and effectively protect their communities,” says Drayton Bussiere, president, Alberta Fire Chiefs Association, and Chief with Red Deer County Fire.
“The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association values this continued support and looks forward to working with the government to further enhance capacity and preparedness across the province.”
