It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, and cherished friend on Tuesday, March 16th, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Brad moved to Red Deer, Alberta, in 1980, where he met the love of his life, Monique. Together, they build a life rooted in hard work, pride, and an unwavering love for family creating a home filled with purpose, laughter, and cherished memories.
Brad was predeceased by his father, David Eugene “Gus” Rivers; his mother, Patricia Nagy; and Morley Cooper, a dear friend and mentor.
He was a devoted and deeply family-oriented man whose love for is wife, Monique, and his sons, Trevor and Daniel, was evident in everything he did. He also held a special place in his heart for his extended family, including his brothers, Bill and Albert (“Al”), Larry (Dallas), and their children, Sahara (Sean) and Jared. Brad shared a close and special bond with his in-laws, Tom and Janine Taylor.
Known for his easy-going nature, Brad was someone everyone enjoyed talking to. He made people feel welcome and valued, often leaving them with a laugh, a story, or a bit of advice. A true “Fix-it” man, he could build, repair, or figure out just about anything and always had a project on the go.
Brad took great pride in his backyard complete with his Canada flag, carefully placed lighting, and perfectly maintained, golf green grass where many conversations were shared, dogs roamed freely, and memories were made.
He dedicated over 45 years to the oil and gas and civil earthworks industries as a highly skilled heavy equipment operator, progressing from labourer to supervisor and foreman. Known for his precision on the trackhoe, Brad contributed to major projects across Canada, including building the very first road into what they now call Kananaskis Village. Even after retiring in 2022, he continued to share his knowledge and passion with others.
Brad found joy in life’s simple moments with family and friends, his dogs, being outdoors, and working on projects. He was always willing to lend a hand, and his kindness, generosity, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Monique; his sons, Trevor and Daniel; his daughter, Lisa Carey (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Alexandrea, Even-Leigh, and Quinn of Winnipeg, along with many cousins, extended family, and friends in Alberta and Ontario.
A celebration of Brad’s life will be held at the Red Deer Elk’s, on April 24th, 2026 at 2 p.m.
Cremation has been entrusted to Red Deer Funeral Home.
Brad will be remembered for his strength, humour, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all friends, family, and colleagues for their support, kindness, and compassion during this difficult time.
