FOLKARD, Verna

1934– 2026

Mrs. Verna Jean Folkard passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor Innisfail, Alberta on March 26, 2026, at the age of 91 years. Verna was born and raised in Bergen, Alberta, and later moved to Calgary and Olds, before settling down in Innisfail, Alberta, where she worked at the trailer factory, Johns Manville, and the Innisfail Health Centre as a cook. Verna also worked various jobs as a cleaner, babysitter and cabinet maker. She was known for her great skill in baking, cooking, sewing and crafting. She had a contagious smile and a remarkable ability to always see the good in everyone. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Verna will be lovingly remembered by her children; Larry (Rhonda) McDermott, Colleen (Darryll) Rusnak, and Kathy (Sheldon) Eliuk; her grandchildren, Cole (Sarah), Tessa (Barrie), Ryan (Amber), Matt (Tilly), Amber (Jeremy), Riley (Susan), and Danny; Her great grandchildren, Larrick, Grady, Cleo, Leela, Taylor, Brendan, Nikki, Keaton, Dylan, Isaiah, Nyah, Savanah, and Chloe. Verna was predeceased by her husband, Stan Folkard, her sisters Marie and Marj, her brothers Bob, Norm, and Merv, her sons Mike and Gary McDermott, her daughter, Beverly Kaspersons, and her grandson Mark Rusnak. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunset Manor and Autumn Grove for their compassionate care. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
