A total of nine members of the U15 AAA Red Deer Rebels squad will compete in the upcoming 2026 Alberta Cup.

The annual tournament put on by Hockey Alberta, which takes place in Red Deer from April 23-26, will feature 120 athletes representing their region in the showcase.

Among those from the Rebels are forward Madden Daneault, forward Finn Visser, defenceman Nate Lodge, and defenceman Luke Pierson on Team Alberta Black. Meanwhile, forward Matthew Busch, defenceman Jevin Morrison, defenceman Madden Rome, defenceman Lucas Seidel, and goaltender Karson Varty were named to Team Alberta Blue.

A total of six teams will face off against each other in the round-robin tournament at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The showcase features the top 15-year-old prospects from across the province who are eligible for the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. They’ll compete in front of not only family and friends but also hundreds of WHL scouts.

It is also part of the player evaluation process for selecting Team Alberta to compete at the Canada Winter Games in February 2027.

The rosters were put together following three regional camps last weekend in Calgary, Red Deer, and Spruce Grove.

“There were a lot of very talented kids from across the province who tried out for the Alberta Cup program,” said Blake Cosgrove, Hockey Alberta’s Manager of Elite Hockey Development, in a media release. “While the Alberta Cup’s focus is player development, it is also a great opportunity to evaluate players for our U16 Team Alberta. We are very excited for this 2011 age group to showcase themselves at the Alberta Cup and future Hockey Alberta events.
