QUIRICO, Rick
1945 – 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Rick” Edward Quirico at the age of 80. He was a son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many. Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, on November 20, 1945, Richard spent his early years in Kelowna and later lived in Central Alberta, including Sylvan Lake and the Red Deer area. He enjoyed working at Westridge Cabinets, Turple Bros., and spent many years at Cam Clark Ford in Red Deer. Some of Rick’s favourite things included travelling to visit family and friends throughout B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan. His favourite pastimes were gardening, fishing, music, and dancing. He was very passionate about cars and quietly enjoyed walking his dog, Josie, along the lake. Rick was a devoted dog lover and had many throughout his life; in his later years, his cat Lucky kept him company. Rick was a hardworking man and, when not working, was known for his compassion toward others. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the team on Unit 31 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, as well as all the doctors and nurses, for their kindness and compassion. Richard is lovingly remembered by his son, Vince Quirico of Calgary; his four brothers, Mark Quirico of Edmonton, Darrel Quirico of Sylvan Lake, Brent Quirico of Red Deer, and Douglas Quirico of Red Deer; his sister, Jeannie Quirico of Red Deer; his two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Richard was predeceased by his father, Ed Quirico; his mother, Clare Quirico; his spouse, Alex Fitzgerald; his stepson, Adain Fitzgerald; his sister, Donna Quirico; and his nephew, James “Jimmy” Christensen. There will be no service at this time; details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard’s honour to Paws and Claws Animal Rescue of Red Deer at pawsandclawsreddeer@gmail.com.
