The Western Hockey League announced Rebels forward Poul Andersen has been named the Rookie of the Week.

The 18-year-old from St. Louis Park, Minn., scored four goals and three assists in three games last week as the Rebels clinched a postseason berth.

He started the week with a three-point performance in a 4-3 win against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday, March 18. He notched a goal and two assists in the victory.

Meantime, on Friday, March 20, Andersen potted two goals in a 9-3 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers, followed by a two-point night on Saturday in a rematch with the Tigers to wrap up the regular season. Andersen scored a goal and added an assist in an 8-3 setback.

The American leads all Rebels rookies in scoring with 46 points in 64 games.

He joined the Rebels in a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings that saw forward Jaxon Fuder headed the other way. Since the trade, Andersen has collected 30 points in 36 games.

Unselected in the WHL Prospects Draft, Andersen signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Oil Kings on February 21, 2025.

As the WHL Playoffs begin this week, the Rebels will face the Eastern Conference champion Prince Albert Raiders in a best-of-seven series that begins this Friday, March 27.
