GILL, Dalip
1933 ~ 2026
On March 7, 2026, Dalip Kaur Gill, also lovingly known as our “Bebe,” woke up at 4:30 a.m., as she always did, to bathe and get dressed for the day. After making sure that her room was tidy and her bed was made, Bebe lay down for her daily nap and passed away peacefully in her sleep. Bebe spent almost all of her life focusing on her relationship with Waheguru. Her spirituality knew no bounds, and she was always quick to offer a prayer for anyone who needed it. She was resilient in the face of adversity, no matter how hard life came at her, and taught us to constantly hold gratitude for everything. We are convinced it was Waheguru who helped her pass in such a blissful way.
Bebe was born on April 15, 1933, in Lopon, Punjab, India, to Jwala Singh and Basant Kaur Dhaliwal. She was the middle child, with an older sister, Jangir Kaur (Gill), and a younger brother, Pritam Singh. Since her father was the Jathedar at the Lopon Gurdwara, she began accompanying him daily, which led to her taking Amrit at a very young age. Taking Amrit and dedicating her life to Waheguru would eventually help her through the many hardships she faced in her almost 93 years of life.
In her late teens, she married Gurdev Singh Gill from Bughipura, Punjab, India. They lived in a joint family, and between them, they had 30 nieces and nephews, along with six children of their own: the late Gursewak Singh (Jasmail Kaur), Baljinder Kaur (the late Gurbaksh Singh Dhaliwal), Harbans Kaur (the late Gurdeep Singh Dhaliwal), Balwinder Kaur (the late Gurbachan Singh Rai), the late Nachhatar Singh (Satwant Kaur), and the late Kulwant Kaur (Sukhdev Singh Dhaliwal). She was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whom she adored and loved to spend time with.
Bebe moved to Canada in 1996 to live with her youngest daughter and became actively involved in Sikh communities in:
Oliver, British Columbia (1996 – 1998)
Abbotsford, Britsh Columbia (1998 – 2013)
Calgary, Alberta (2013 – 2022)
Mundare, Alberta (2022 – 2024)
Red Deer, Alberta (2024 until her passing)
Dalip Kaur Gill is survived by her:

25 nieces and nephews from the Brar, Dhaliwal, Gill, Khosa, Sidhu, Tiwana, and Toor families
