Repeat offender arrested by Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis RCMP

RCMP in Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis recently teamed up, they say, to arrest a repeat offender.

On Feb. 27, at about 11:30 p.m., the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit was on proactive patrol in the city’s south.

Members note in a release that they observed a dark-coloured sedan travelling east on 40 Avenue. The license plate attached to the sedan is said to have been obstructed by snow, making it illegible.

Police say a traffic stop was attempted, but the sedan engaged in a flight from police and failed to stop at a stop sign. A pursuit was not initiated.

Neighbouring detachments were updated and provided a vehicle description. Maskwacis RCMP members advised that they located the sedan on Highway 611 by 2 Mile Road, five kilometres west of Maskwacis.

Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction members arrived in the area and observed the sedan until it came to a stop. Crime Reduction members engaged the sedan with a Tactical Vehicle Intervention Technique to prevent another flight, and mitigate risk to the public.

As a result of this investigation, Bobby Larenze Bull, 26, was identified as the driver and charged with the following:

• Flight From Peace Officer;
• Dangerous operation of motor vehicle;
• Offences under the Traffic Safety Act (x4).

Bull was taken before a Justice of the Peace and initially remanded, however later released with his next court date set for March 17, 2026 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

According to multiple sources, Bull has faced criminal charges numerous times since 2021. In some cases, charges were withdrawn, including a June 2024 case which media reported on where he was charged with assault.

Most recently, he served one day in jail and was given one year of probation in September 2025 on a charge of resist/obstruct.

In July 2024, he was convicted of flight from police, resist/obstruct, and two counts of failure to comply with release conditions — he received a 135-day jail sentence.

Among others, he also received a 30-day sentence in January 2023 for failure to comply with probation, and failure to comply with a release order.

He received 51 days in September 2022 for possession of stolen property over $5,000, and other smaller charges; plus 30 days for assault.
