BRAYFORD, Arnold
1964 – 2026
Arnold Richard Brayford of Red Deer County passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 61 years. Arnold was born on April 26, 1964, in Smoky Lake, Alberta, the youngest of seven children born to Frank and Eileen (née Sexauer) Brayford. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Red Deer County from Newbrook, Alberta, where he was raised and remained throughout his life. He attended River Glen School for his elementary and junior high education and later graduated from Lindsey Thurber Composite High School. Arnold went on to attend Olds College, where he pursued leatherwork—an art he truly enjoyed. He devoted countless hours to perfecting his patterns and drawings, taking great pride in the craftsmanship of each piece he created. Throughout his working years, Arnold was employed with Kovac’s Manufacturing and Repairs and Kaun’s Seed Farm before beginning a long and dedicated career at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Over the past thirty years, he worked first as a porter and later as a driver, delivering to various locations and laboratories. He took pride in his work and the connections he made along the way. Outside of work, Arnold had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed horseback riding, reining, and training horses, and was always willing to lend a hand on cattle drives. These passions brought him great joy and lasting friendships. Arnold will be lovingly remembered by his son, Chance; his siblings, Allan (Sharon), Betty (Glen) Mace, Jim (Bernice), and Randy (Brenda); his sisters-in-law, Susan and Angela; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Eileen and Frank Brayford; his sister, Patsy Leicht (Dean Walt); and his brother, Bill. Arnold’s quiet dedication, craftsmanship, and love for those close to him and the land will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A Celebration of Arnold’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287-67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, the Celebration of Life will be livestreamed at the following link: https://www.parklandfuneralhome.com/live-stream/.
