Echo Lacombe surpasses 1,000,000 pounds of food rescued
Echo Food Rescue in Lacombe is celebrating having surpassed 1,000,000 pounds of food rescued.
All that food, they say, would’ve otherwise ended up in the landfill.
“This was accomplished with just a handful of stores and farms in our area and a group of dedicated volunteers,” shares Christina Sturgeon, food rescue manager.
“We have a driver who goes out into the community and picks up the food. We have sorters who go through everything and sorts it into what is good to distribute and what should be animal feed. Then we have people who come in for distribution.”
