In Loving Memory 

Viola Mary Anne Thachuk (Heinrichs) was born on November 21, 1941 in Vancouver BC and passed peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 27, 2026. 

Viola shared 56 devoted years with her beloved husband, Dan Thachuk.  Together they built a life rooted in resilience and unwavering loyalty. 

She was a proud and loving mother to Sandra Materi (Wayne), Shelley Warner (Glenn), Tasha Hodges (Aaron), and Catherine O’hara (D’arcy). She is also survived by Carol Heinrichs and John Heinricks, her younger sister and brother, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Viola was spicy, smart, funny, loyal, dedicated, motivated and incredibly tough.  She faced life’s challenges head-on and fought a good fight right to the end, always on her terms.  Her strength was matched only by her sharp wit and the laughter she brought to every room. 

Her garden was one of her happiest places.  She found peace with her hands in the soil, tending flowers and watching things grow.  She is also proudly remembered for her accomplishments during her working years.  These included her Directorship of two major Associations, in both BC and AB. 

Viola passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, perseverance and deep family love.  She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
