Officials at JKA Nippon Karate Club Red Deer are celebrating some outstanding results at the recently held Karate Alberta Provincials held in Calgary last month.

On Jan. 31, 2026, at Crescent Heights High School, officials say highly skilled Red Deer karatekas from JKA Nippon Karatedo Club earned multiple podium finishes:

* Blake Corotan – 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal

* Cody Corotan – 2 Gold Medals

* Wren Marcelo – 2 Gold Medals

* Levi Fisher – 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal

* Jaeden Sioco – 1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal

Coub officials say these athletes partnered and competed alongside Airdrie/Calgary JKA karatekas, further strengthening inter-club collaboration and success.

Notably, they say powerhouse brothers Blake Corotan and Cody Corotan along with Airdrie/Calgary’s Wren Marcelo competed in the advanced category and have all earned their place on the Karate Alberta Provincial Team. They will represent the province at the Karate Canada National Championships in May 2026 to be hosted in Edmonton.

Club officials say these athletes aspire to compete at the highest international levels, including the World Championships, Pan-American Championships, and hopefully, the Olympic Games.

The Club notes that they welcome children, youth, and adults interested in training in traditional and sport karate to join their dojos:

* JKA Nippon Karatedo Club Red Deer

* Airdrie/Calgary JKA

* Control Concepts Canada – JKA Edmonton
